Leave it to us to have a pretty untraditional Mother’s Day weekend. We decided to utilize my sister Jasmine’s new abode, her 30 foot sailboat parked at Pier 39 in San Francisco. To celebrate my mom, we spent a night on her boat and “played tourist” for the weekend (something my mom loves doing). Early Sunday morning, my sister dragged us out of our super cozy beds and on to another boat called “The Lovely Martha”. The boat took off to Alcatraz where Jasmine and 24 other (crazy) triathalon people jumped off and swam to Aquatic Park. My mom and I stayed on the boat with some other mothers to watch the mayhem while the boat captain and his crew helped get the swimmers out of rip tides and other crazy ocean situations. It was fun seeing my sister in action and it was definitely a unique way to celebrate the day. I also liked wandering around Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf in the early hours of the day when no one is out. We spent the rest of the day napping, making brunch and relaxing (3 of our favorite things to do). I hope everyone had a lovely mother’s day, remember to celebrate moms every day!
